Cube Shelf

Innovations in shelving have led to the design of the cube shelf. This sort of shelf instantly makes a room look more modern. They are usually hung to provide a place of interest on an otherwise boring wall and two or three cubes together is a popular design. Because of this, cube shelves are usually sold in packs of two or more. Some of the larger cubes even have shelves inside of them to separate them into a few different sections. This takes away the need to buy many cubes and provides a totally different look to a room.

The shelves come in a variety of colours with different finishes. These include rounded edges, straight edges and wavy edges. The shelves can be made from MDF, plastic or wood. They are hung using hidden brackets and so they can look as though they are part of the wall if you choose one in the same colour as your wallpaper. Alternatively you can choose wooden cubes that match the colour of your furniture. If you prefer contrast, pick a colour that clashes with your wallpaper. Black and white shelves are he most popular colours as they go with almost anything else.

Cube shelves can come in packs of ready made cubes or flat packed cubes. The flat packed versions are usually made of plywood and are easy enough to make. You could even just go out and buy four pieces of wood that are all the same length and build the cube yourself.

Cubes are a great alternative to buying a shelf and bookends. There is no need to worry that anything will fall sideways off the shelf as the cube sides will keep it all secure. Therefore if you did wish to store books on your shelf, a cube would be a fantastic buy.

The great thing about buying cubes instead of a bookcase is that you can be totally creative. If you have a bookcase in mind, and then decided to buy cubes instead, you could simply stack the cubes on top of each other where the bookcase would have been. Since you have total control, you could place them neatly, or haphazardly. Alternatively you could have a line of them across your wall, or a couple placed around your room. Some cubes even have doors on them, so if you need to store something that isn’t very decorative, you can place it in a cube like this. Cubes usually come in different sizes of the same design, so there is no need to be uniform when putting up the shelves. You could have one large one as a focus and then surround it with cubes of different sizes. People will be sure to compliment your creativity.

A cube shelf on its own is stylish and modern, but it looks much more creative and decorative as one of a set of cubes. There are so many different types of cubes that you are sure to find some to compliment the room in which the shelves will be hung.
